MORE ABOUT HOMEOPATHY

What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a complete system of medicine which recognizes our uniqueness. We are all individuals with our own strengths and weaknesses built up over our lifetime in response to our experiences. It isn't surprising that we each have our own patterns of illness. Even when we catch a cold from someone we know, it will affect us differently from them. For many people homeopathy offers effective treatment for both acute and chronic problems.

Homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine. This means that it treats the whole person, the mental, emotional and spiritual aspects, not just physical symptoms. If someone is involved in an accident for example, as well as the physical trauma, there is often mental anguish and emotional shock. Matching a remedy on all these levels is important to gain the maximum benefit. Each remedy has been through a rigorous assessment called a 'proving' to identify its particular properties.

How does it work?
The principle behind Homeopathy is 'like cures like'. A substance which causes a particular range of symptoms in a healthy person, when taken in the correct way, can cure someone suffering from those very symptoms.
Matching someone's particular symptoms as closely as possible to the symptoms associated with a homeopathically prepared remedy, encourages their own healing energy to return them to health. The results are often remarkable, bringing about cures that are rapid, gentle and permanent.
The remedy itself is made by a process called dilution and sucussion Through this process, not even a molecule of the original substance remains, but the energetic blueprint or pattern of the substance is held in the remedy. No-one is quite sure how it works, but it is thought that taking a homeopathically prepared remedy which accurately matches someone's particular symptoms creates a healing response in their energy system which is reflected in the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of their being informing the healing which needs to occur at those levels.

Is homeopathy safe?
Yes. Since the substances are given in immeasurably small doses, unwanted side-effects are avoided making homeopathic remedies safe for everyone, for infants, the elderly and infirm, even during pregnancy.

You can start using Homeopathic remedies safely and effectively in day to day situations without any training. This is called acute prescribing. Because homeopathic remedies don't cause side effects, the home-prescriber can safely treat a wide variety of injuries and acute situations. Examples of acute illnesses are coughs; colds; conjunctivitis; cystitis; flu; gastric flu; food poisoning; measles; mumps; chickenpox; travel sickness; strains and sprains etc.

Probably the best known and most widely used homeopathic remedy is Arnica. It is used to relieve bumps or knocks which are painful and might cause bruising. In more serious accidents it also helps with shock and anguish. It is probably one of the most useful remedies to keep with you, especially if there are children around!

Injuries and acute illnesses happen at unpredictable times. It is therefore a good idea to have a comprehensive range of homeopathic remedies 'on standby'. They are also invaluable to have on holiday or while traveling.
